So I guess I'm going to start a beta for Warbots Online myself on the 11th of August 2009 hopefully. The download link, etc, will be on the front page. I've added a lot of kewl stuff in the last few months.

It's a lot of work...I'm going to launch with multiplayer capability and hopefully things wont' blow up... Cool

Also there will be an Urban Empires update as well on the front page on that date :-0 That game is so freakin complex and is a lot of work, but it's coming together after about 5 years. I don't have a date for the Urban Empires BETA but I'm very happy with how it is looking now Very Happy Especially with the implementation of Havok Physics, and the rewrite/improvement/optimization of the rendering engine. Also many of the issues that stopped me from releasing the game back in 2006/2007 have been solved.

He replied, "I just kind of optimized for game play."

That's a good idea. I'll contact the sites after a while [ I'm sure they'll hear anyways ] ... but I'd like to start as small as possible.

I'm not going to require an e-mail for the BETA [ like I am with Urban Empires ] ...I'm just gonna put it out there and see what people think.

There will only be 1 of the 4 maps included with the 'demo/beta', and I'm only including 3 of the weapons...I'm deciding if I should keep the hovercraft, 6-wheeled-buggy, and tank in the demo....or if I should only include the 4-wheeled buggy...I don't want people to think this is some kind of HALO type game ripoff, so I'll probably include all the chassis types.

There are aircraft, and 1000s of soldiers fighting on the battlefield, the players just control one of 64 vehicles on the map...there are also missile silos, bases, forcefields, command points, etc. in the map.

The newest map I've created called 'Wasteland' has not been shown publicaly yet...It's a crater ridded battlefield with hedgehogs [ tank traps ], and barbed wire everywhere...lots of smoke and chaos on the battlefield...

I can't wait to show it to you guys Very Happy

Yup, I'm working on one to release before the BETA...it'll probably show the ragdoll physics on the 1000s of humans, and just a chaotic battlefield. This video will be mostly gameplay footage from the player's point of view.

I also added a cool 'view finder' with a TV shader on it so it looks like you're looking through a digital viewfinder with interlacing artifacts, and so many other things Very Happy

I'll probably post the video in the next day or two...sometime this weekend.

I have 10s of millions of hits on my website over the years [ radioactive-software.com front page ], and I have the 2nd most viewed developers journal on gamedev.net [ biggest game development site in the world ] a lot of ppl will join from there...and also I'll make a post in the forum here. Plus for the initial release I'll have a new video on youtube which will bring in some people, also the warbots online homepage will be updated. That should be enough people for the first release.

Then I'll move on to other websites, etc.
