|Well, dgreen. I think you already know im in a development team for a game. They are coding the engine from scratch. But, we still dont know how to work with vehicles and its animations. Im lost with it.
I just know the GTA system:
I saw it uses a "dummy" system (the 3dsmax helper boxy tool) where every car piece are attached to each one. Then, you dont need to animate every car. You just have files with specific animations. One file, one animation.
Something like this:
Dummyes are the little boxes. If you move them, the linked piece of the car also moves.
Then, inside the engine, you apply the animations to dummys, that have a specific name. For example: Wheel_Dummy, bump_dummy...
Its also used to place where the exaust will be, the car lights are also defined like this. Even the broken pieces or "tunnnig" pieces. I mean, the new car parts you can add at tunning garages in game.
Well, Mr Drgreen, what can i do?
I cant find any documentation about used systems out there. Just silly and already known stuff.
