Hey. Well, i had to model this Oil Pump this evening, but i have no idea about how to animate it. (3ds max)



What can i do? Maybe reactor?

Well, if you don't know how to animate it, you can just watch a movie about oil pumps and just watch it over and over again Razz

Watching a movement on TV thousands of times wont animate my model xD. I know hows the movement, the problem was "How to do it in 3D".
Anyway, i spent many hours investigating it, and here is the result:



Vídeo

I had to model every REAL piece and axles as real life to get it working. And then, to define what piece moves the next one, making a virtual chain of linked pieces. Then, a real engine that transmits the power along all the system. It moves using something like a physics simulation.
To resume, its just a copy of real world physics laws.
